Who Runs the Wardrobe? Kurtis Do!

Kurtis are the most comfortable garment in a woman’s wardrobe. With so many wondrous styles and designs, kurtis are available for just about every occasion, from a simple get together at home to a wedding function. Kurtis are available in a large variety of cuts, hems, collars, etc. Some of the most popular styles of today are the net kurti, the high low kurti, the ever favourite anarkali style kurti, and the most convenient short kurtis. The trends in Indian fashion come and go like any other, but none of the new fashion trends have been able to reduce our love for kurtis.
Kurtis are so excessively preferred because they are the most convenient clothing that a woman can wear, for whatever occasion. They also take the least amount of time to wear; hence one can get ready much faster than having to wear a salwar kameez, saree, or a formal pant suit.Georgette kurtis are often preferred by women to wear on a sunny day out as the thin silk or crepe material feels very light and airy. Kurtis can be worn as casual dresses around the house and for simple outdoors. They can also be worn to work as they follow the formal dress code too. Other than that they are also great for casual wear as they are so light and comfortable most of the times. And how can an Indian woman simply forget the great wedding? At times, it seems as though kurtis were made only for this traditional occasion. Pretty heavy kurtis with intricate designs in gold and silver with borders at the hem and sleeves, matched with a variety of styles and colours in collars, are the perfect sangeet or mehendi ceremony attire. Dark coloured kurtis with elegant embroidery are just simply perfect for receptions.
Another favourite occasion for kurtis is our Indian festivals. After all a bit of glamour just adds more of a feeling of excitement to the various festivals we celebrate. For Ganesh Chaturthi, whether you’re a host or you have been invited to someone else’s house for a visit, a net kurtican do no wrong. All it does is make you look fabulous. Mirrored kurtis with heavy threaded embroidery and sequins attached to the material are always preferred for occasions like Navratri. Simple kurtis doused with colour, maybe those which are short from the front and longer at the back, are the epitome of the sweet and simple Indian girl when they go house visiting in Diwali.
Kurtis can be worn with just about anything and in any style. They can be worn with jeans on casual days and basic outings. Patiala pants or leggings add a nice formal effect while still holding in a fresh look. The dhoti style kurtis look really nice at fancy dinners, while those with front open slits are good for outdoors fun. A georgette kurti can be worn in a frock style giving a look of charm and simplicity, both.
Frock style kurtis can be worn very nicely with ankle high boots or sandals with heels. Many kurtis are can be worn with short waistcoats like coaties or with dupattas. Kurtis can be worn with modern jewelry or traditional type jhumkas too. Accessorize with any funky or colourful bag and your favourite footwear, you’re ready to slay the day!
